Student Involvement

Moss Street welcomes students for employment opportunities, practicums and internships, and those who would simply like to volunteer. For a few hours a week, you can set aside the stress of a busy student schedule while encouraging a child’s desire to learn.

Our student employees receive on-the-job feedback and training, group trainings, mentoring, and performance evaluations. We also cover critical points of professionalism, such as early childhood best practices, self-management skills, health and safety, work habits, and school-to-work transitions.

Depending on your area of study, you can gain valuable experience interacting with children that may also fulfill some class requirements. If you are considering a career that includes children, scheduling some time at Moss Street can give you helpful insightful as to what that might be like. Spending regular time at Moss Street can also help you to develop emotional and social skills that you can use if or when you become a parent.

If you are interested in getting involved at Moss Street, we ask for a commitment of at least twice a week so the children can become familiar with you. Please email us at mscc@uoregon.edu to receive an application.
