Future Families

Our Philosophy

At Moss Street Children's Center, we believe that children learn best by doing. We give them the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities that encourage exploration and development, especially in the areas of social interaction and emotional growth. Activities are generated by children’s ideas and areas of interest, and are designed to enhance specific skills.

Our teachers are dedicated to the development of each child’s curiosity to expand their interest in learning. They also guide children to solve conflicts verbally, through problem solving and cooperative effort. Recognizing that parents are children's primary teachers, our staff supports families to help each child achieve their full potential.

Waitlist and Tours

Due to the demand for our services and the limits placed by our teacher-to-child ratio, we cannot always accommodate every application for enrollment. Applications are accepted throughout the academic year, and families will be placed on the waiting list as soon as we are full. Preference within each of our priority groups will be given in the order that applications were received.

Returning student families have priority for re-enrollment, followed by new student families, and then other UO-associated families. Our waiting list is fluid, with no traditional number assigned to an applicant. As long as there is a submitted application from a higher priority group, we will offer to that family first.

If you are interested in enrolling a child at Moss Street, please submit an application. We encourage you to contact us.

Scheduling

Moss Street requires scheduling in advance, which allows us to structure our programs and ensure adequate staff coverage throughout the day. All classrooms have the same scheduling option of 8:15 a.m.–3:15 p.m. In addition, some extended care slots are available with a 4:00 p.m. pick-up time on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Pick-up time on Wednesdays for all enrolled children is 3:15 p.m.
