Ages 24–36 Months

Our approach with children is observational based, with sensitive responses to each individual child. The teachers provide an environment that is physically safe, emotionally nurturing, and cognitively challenging.

The respect shown to each child will give them a feeling of trust in others and a strong sense of self. Teachers foster this experience in group care to encourage a life-long love of learning. We encourage parental involvement and welcome you to your child's classroom at all times.

Daily Communication

In the younger age groups, communication about eating, sleeping, and toileting is provided daily. Please be aware that teachers are responsible for the whole group, and it may be best to schedule a meeting time with the teacher if you wish a more extensive conversation than teachers can manage during pick-up and drop-off times. Parents are welcome to visit their children attending Moss Street at any time.

In addition to conferences that are scheduled each year, parents or teachers can request an individual meeting if questions or concerns arise.

Breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack are prepared by the Moss Street kitchen staff. The children and staff eat all meals together at classroom tables. We believe that these shared meals help develop relationships, interest in food, good eating habits, and social and self-help skills.

Moss Street is a participant in the United States Department of Agriculture Food Program. We utilize different food service styles based on the age of the children.

Middles are served family style. Family-style service requires that the children pass food around the table at least three times. Children serve themselves and can take the amount and type of food they desire. If staff assist children, they must serve the minimum portion required by the USDA.
